Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) Based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Compared With CBT-I: A Pilot Study

Objectives: Cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is the first line treatment insomnia. However, many patients remain with sleep disturbances even after undergoing CBT-I, and those short durations have shown fewer gains. Acceptance commitment (ACT) one of third wave therapies, it useful in helping get flexibility mind. Therefore, we incorporated its components into came up an advanced CBT-I program that involves cognitive behavior based on ACT, examined efficacy comparison to CBT-I. Methods: Patients chronic primary were recruited at memory center CHA University Hospital from June August 2020. To examine compared (n=16) assigned two groups (CBT-I: n=6; CBT-I: n=10). The each group treated 4 weeks (8 sessions). quality sleep, severity insomnia, sleepiness, depression, anxiety, acceptance, efforts dysfunctional beliefs concerning assessed self-report questionnaires. Results: improved both treatment. Conclusions: This study improving quality, other symptoms related sleep. results suggest ACT
